How to turn a video into a GIF on a Mac
Built in: macOS has no one-step way; Shortcuts can do it with a custom shortcut.
With Garlic
- Start dragging the film and hold ⇧ Shift.
- Drop on GIF — the first 15 seconds become a looping GIF.
- To pick the part, use ⌘ Tools → Trim first, then make the GIF.
Also on the same garlic: MP4, MOV, HEVC (half the size), 720p for sending, and the sound on its own.
