How to trim a video or audio clip on a Mac

Cut a film or a sound file down to the part you want, with handles, and save it as a new file.

Built in: Open the video in QuickTime Player → Edit → Trim. It works for one file at a time and saves over or beside it.

With Garlic

  1. Start dragging the film or sound file and hold ⌘ Command.
  2. Drop on Trim — a window opens with the clip and two handles.
  3. Drag the handles to the part you want and press Trim. The original is untouched.

Speed, Split, Snapshots and Join are on the same wheel.
