How to convert MOV to MP4 on a Mac

Turn QuickTime MOV videos into MP4 files that play anywhere, on your Mac, without uploading them.

Built in: In Finder, right-click the video → Encode Selected Video Files. It makes a .mov or .m4v rather than an .mp4.

With Garlic

1. Start dragging the MOV files from Finder.
2. Hold ⇧ Shift — the garlic opens under the pointer.

For a smaller file, drop on HEVC (about half the size) or 720p instead.
